The nipple is part of the external structure of the human body. It is a landmark of the adipose tissue.

It is an erogenous and erectile zone.

It is surrounded by sensitive skin with darker pigmentation called the areola. Its size is usually equal to or greater than one centimeter in diameter.

The nipple in male morphology is a vestige of the early stage of embryonic development, when the fetus is asexual.
